Bible Timeline
The Bible is not a single book written in one sitting but many books composed over a long span of time, and the events it recounts follow an order from beginning to end. This timeline lays that story out step by step in seven great periods from creation to the early church: the Creation Narratives, the Patriarchs, the Exodus, the Kingdom, the Exile, the Life of Jesus and the Early Church. Under each period we introduce the key events in a single sentence, then give a link to read the chapter where the event appears and, where relevant, the related person or place page. In this way you can see a single event both in its place within the big picture and, with one tap, go down to the text itself. You will not find exact years or calendar dates here, because the date of many events is disputed and, rather than guessing, we follow only the sequence on which there is broad agreement. Our aim is not to place events on a bold line of 'when' they happened, but to give a plain and reliable answer to the question of 'which came before which'. If you want to test how well you know the order, try the chronology game that shuffles these same events and asks you to arrange them. Free, ad-free and open to everyone.
