Perga was one of the main cities of Pamphylia. Paul and his companions sailed here from Paphos on Cyprus, and John, called Mark, left them at this point and returned to Jerusalem (Acts 13:13). That departure later caused a sharp disagreement between Paul and Barnabas (Acts 15:37–39). On their first arrival the apostles went on from Perga to Pisidian Antioch; on the way back they spoke the word in Perga and then went down to Attalia (Acts 13:14; 14:25). Today Perga is a well-preserved archaeological site in the Aksu district of Antalya.

Where is Perga today?
Perga is today in Türkiye, an archaeological site in the Aksu district of Antalya, east of the city centre. Paul and Barnabas came here on their first journey and preached here on the way back (Acts 13:13; 14:25). Visitors see the Hellenistic towered gate, a colonnaded street with a water channel down its middle, the theatre and the stadium; many of the statues found here are displayed in the Antalya Museum.
Is Perga mentioned in the Bible?
Yes. Perga appears in Acts during Paul's first missionary journey: on the arrival from Cyprus, and again on the way back as the city where the word was preached before the apostles went down to Attalia (Acts 13:13–14; 14:25).
