On Matthew 7:7: the meaning of the call "Ask... Seek... Knock," its place in the Sermon on the Mount and why it is read on prayer and persistence.

Matthew 7:7 is built on three short verbs: ask, seek, knock. This trio comes near the close of the Sermon on the Mount and pictures prayer not as passive waiting but as an ongoing search.

The verse opens at once into an everyday image: a father does not give his child a stone when the child asks for bread. So asking is described not as words thrown into uncertainty but as a relationship resting on trust.
