Mighty Samson

Samson was very strong, and his strength was a gift from God. When he remembers where his strength comes from, he rises again.

Mighty Samson

Samson was an extraordinarily strong man. Even when he was a baby, it was said that God had a special task for him. As Samson grew, his strength amazed everyone; no one was as powerful as he was. He could carry gates, lift heavy loads, and manage tasks that no one else could handle. When people saw him they stared in amazement and wondered, “Where does this strength come from?” From time to time Samson wanted to boast of this strength; but the source of it was not really himself. Sadly, strong people sometimes forget this and think themselves able to do anything. But there was a secret to this strength: Samson never cut his hair. His long hair was the sign of a promise he had made to God. And his true strength came not from his muscles, but from God.

The Forgotten Secret

Samson used this strength many times to protect his people. When people were in trouble, Samson would rush to help. But Samson was not always careful. Sometimes he trusted too much in himself and forgot where his strength came from.

One day there were people who wanted to learn Samson's secret. After long efforts they found out his secret and, while he slept, they cut his hair. When Samson woke up, he realized his strength was gone. He felt very weak and sad. They captured him and took him to a faraway place.

Turning Back to God

But there Samson stopped and thought. He remembered again that his strength had never really come from his own hair, but from God. And little by little, his hair had begun to grow back. Samson prayed to God from his heart: “God, please give me strength one more time.”

One Last Act of Courage

One day they made him stand between two enormous pillars in a great building. Samson placed his hands on the pillars and gathered his last strength. God helped him; Samson pushed with all his might, and that huge building came down. Samson had acted with courage for his people one final time.

Samson's story is both powerful and thought-provoking. It reminds us: all the wonderful abilities we have are gifts. Like Samson, we should not forget where these gifts come from. True strength is not in boasting, but in giving thanks to the one who gave it to us and using it for good.
