Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden
The first people, Adam and Eve, live in a beautiful garden. Even when they make a mistake, God keeps on loving them.
The Garden of Eden
A very, very long time ago, in the first days of the world, God created a very beautiful garden. The name of this garden was Eden. In the garden there were colorful flowers, trees with sweet fruit, streams of flowing water, and animals of every kind. God placed the first people in this garden: Adam and Eve. They were very happy; friends with the animals, at one with nature. In the mornings they woke to the songs of the birds, wandered in the garden all day, gathered fruit, and cooled off in the fresh streams. Even the lions stood calmly beside them. Adam and Eve lacked nothing; everything they needed was there, and best of all, they were like friends with God; in the evenings they would talk with Him in the garden. This was a truly special and peaceful life. God loved them very much and trusted them.
The Forbidden Fruit
God asked only one thing of Adam and Eve: not to eat from the fruit of a special tree in the middle of the garden. “Everything else is yours,” he said. For a long time Adam and Eve followed this request and lived peacefully in the garden.
But one day a cunning serpent came to Eve. With sweet words it tried to trick her: “Just taste that fruit, nothing will happen.” Eve hesitated at first, but in the end she took a piece of the fruit and gave some to Adam too. Both of them ate from that fruit. In that moment, they had done the one thing they were not supposed to do.
Hiding Away
Right afterward, they felt uneasy inside. They felt that they had done something wrong, and they were ashamed. When God was walking in the garden, they tried to hide. But God found them and called gently: “Where are you?” Adam and Eve told him what had happened.
God's Love That Continues
After that day, Adam and Eve had to leave the garden. But the most important thing was this: God never abandoned them. He made clothes for them, kept caring for them, and never stopped loving them. They had made a mistake, but God's love continued.
Adam and Eve's story teaches us something very precious: we all make mistakes sometimes. When we make a wrong choice, it is normal to feel sad and ashamed. But God's love is bigger than our mistakes. When we make a mistake, instead of hiding, we can speak honestly and begin again. Knowing that we are loved always gives us hope.
Talk about the story
Adam and Eve made a mistake, but God still loved them. How do you feel when you make a mistake?
